Pearl Harbor

On Sunday, December 7th, 1941 the Japanese launched a surprise attack against the U.S. Forces stationed at Pearl Harbor , Hawaii . By planning his attack on a Sunday, the Japanese commander Admiral Nagumo, hoped to catch the entire fleet in port. As luck would have it, the Aircraft Carriers and one of the Battleships
Were not in port. (The USS Enterprise was returning from Wake Island , where it had just delivered some aircraft. The USS Lexington was ferrying aircraft to Midway, and the USS Saratoga and USS Colorado were undergoing repairs in the United States .)

In spite of the latest intelligence reports about the missing a aircraft carriers (his most important targets), Admiral Nagumo decided to continue the attack with his force of six carriers and 423 aircraft. At a range of 230 miles north of Oahu , he launched the first wave of a two-wave attack. Beginning at 0600 hours his first wave consisted of 183 fighters and torpedo bombers which struck at the fleet in Pearl Harbor and the airfields in Hickam, Kaneohe and Ewa. The second strike, launched at 0715 hours,
Consisted of 167 aircraft, which again struck at the same targets.

At 0753 hours the first wave consisting of 40 Nakajima B5N2 "Kate" torpedo bombers, 51 Aichi D3A1 "Val" dive bombers, 50 high altitude bombers and 43 Zeros struck airfields and Pearl Harbor Within the next hour, the second wave arrived and continued the attack.

Guess what I did today!

This was at my reenlistment into the reserves this weekend. They got me for another 6 years, and I get a huge bonus!

Mr. Hendrix is a good C.O., as long as I get my pay straightened out.

My Wonderful Life!

Okay ready? Best news of the day, finished the term at DeVry. Had the final and it was a breaze. I am pretty sure I got an A. Ready for next term, Electromechanical devices, Sensors and Detection equipment, Senior project, and Technical Writing. Then I will have my degree which is AWESOME!!! Now I just have to figure out, and pray, how to get my BS by going another year.

BIG news in Navy Reserves, yes Navy not Army, Marines, A.F., NAVY. I am up for reenlistment and will sign on for another 6 years, time to get serious about making chief, not an easy thing to do. Last weekend at drill was really crazy. Played basketball with some guys there for P.T. for a long time after drill on Saturday. After stealing the ball, I was driving downcourt for the layup, and this guy was right on my tail, pretty big guy, and he hard fouls me before I made it in. I stopped real fast putting all that guys weight and mine on my left foot. The shock was pretty bad, but I still finished the game. Next day, not just an ordinary day. I had PRT that day. Not just that though, I needed blood work done in the morning, which meant I had to fast 12 hours prior. So after the game, running my legs out and injured foot, 12 hour fast, and blood work, its time to do PRT!!! YAY!!! If I don't pass or decide not to do it, I had a good reason, I don't get to reenlist or go on AT, which means I'll be short on cash for the next year of school. So that's right! Get it done, do it, do it now!!! I am not satisfied with the results but I got through it, could have done better. Another fantastic Navy day.

I made it back to church on Sunday. I am very thankful to all the godly men in the church. Father's Day was really good to honor those great examples of faith. See you all soon at church.

Happy Cinco de Mayo to all you freed Spanish nationalists out there.  Also, Happy Birthday to my brother, Chris.  He is 28 today, and him and I are no longer the same age.  There is always that month and 11 days where we have the same age.  People used to think we were twins, and I was held back a year in school (I know what you are thinking and, NO!).  Some people would think I was him.  Yeah, he is the best brother I ever had.
